Brandon and I went on a quick trip a few days ago. After work on Thursday evening, we headed for Colorado to check out the Native American cliff dwellings from hundreds of years ago. We slept in the car that night and just cooked breakfast on a little camper's stove then headed for...Four Corners! It actually wasn't all that cool. For 3 bucks a person you can park in a plain parking lot with a bathroom and an "authentic" Indian frybread stand and look out at more dessert (the likes of which you have been looking at the entire drive out there). Or, you can just park, walk up to the sign, take a picture and call it good - for free.
After that, we headed to the Mesa Verde National Park to see this incredible cliff dwellings. Beginning around 1100's, some Native Americans began building small dwellings in alcoves just with bricks and mud. They were really cool to go and see.

We took a guided tour which was really informative. It's just amazing what people will do and have done. We both had work Saturday morning, so we headed back that night but it was certainly worth the trip!

When I went to Four Corners (while a teenager), there was a marker on the ground where all four states meet. The whole point of going there was to be able to stand on that spot, so you could say that you stood in four states at the same time.

What a great adventure. I look forwarding to hearing more about the cave dwellings at our reunion!
