Happy Anniversary!

Happy 5 year anniversary to Russ & Anne!! Now you can join us on the floor when at wedding receptions they ask the "old" couples who have been married for 5 years or more to come dance. :)

Hopefully you can find some time for yourselves today.

Google Alert for posts to this blog

Did you know that if you create a Google Alert with search terms "Blaine Burnett", you will receive an email alert on the same day that a new post has been added to the Blaine Burnett Family Blog? Unfortunately, you will also receive an email alert for any other postings on the entire internet that contain both "Blaine" and "Burnett". It's surprising that the combination appears almost every day somewhere out there.

Burnett Family Blog Stats

I thought I should point out who has taken over the lead in contributions to the Burnett Family Blog (although Anne's posts are much cuter ;-)

Easter musings

On this Easter Sabbath, I will resist the urge to wax eloquent (for two hours) on the true meaning of Easter, and will admit to missing the baskets of candy just a little bit.

We had a wonderful (though quiet) Easter celebration. On Thursday evening, we visited each of our neighbors and invited them to our Easter Sacrament Meeting. It was great to talk to them, but alas, none of them chose to join us.

We enjoyed two remarkable talks -- Dori Leder on following Christ, and Carl Mead on the Atonement and Resurrection. We're sorry you missed it.

You will definitely be sorry to hear that you also missed our Easter meals -- fruit & creme-filled crepes for lunch, and the ever-popular chicken rolls for dinner! Luckieee!

OK, I just HAVE to say SOMETHING about what is really important...

Because of the events we celebrate this day, I have a hope of sharing eternity with a certain "Kimi" in the attached photo. (After 19 years living here, we finally visited the Portland Japanese Gardens yesterday)

And, of course, I also have a hope of sharing eternity with four little cuties (as well as their spouses and their cuties, present and future!)

Mom made this collage in 1997, and found it for this post from us this wonderful day!

Check out my (updated) FHE post

The picture of the (in)famous assignment board has been added to the text -- sure to bring a smile to those who endured the endless discussions of whether the 'hearts' had been moved or not. ;-)

a day late, and lots of dollars short...

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Jason,
Happy Birthday to you !!!

Have an ice cream cone on us, now that you have so much in common with Baskin Robbins!

Tiempos Buenos :)

A few weeks ago, I had a lot of adventures and therefore a lot of good times. It started when Brandon came into town for his Spring Break. Fortunately, I was able to work hard before he got here so I could play a lot throughout the week.
This is Brandon and I with our first J-dawgs'. We thought it was alright, but nothing to rave about. We also took a trip to Cabela's! Brandon was very happy in that store and had so much fun carting me around telling me all he knew about all the guns and fishing gear and animals and so forth. It was fun. We ended the trip with good food: I had an elk sandwich, he wild boar. Here we are holding historic rifles. Mine is an M1 Garand and his is an M1 Carbine. These are rifles used in WWII, since I know all of you care so much... :)
A big tradition here in Provo is going to the Festival of Colors. Most of you know what it is since you've been around these parts. Wow, all of us lived in Provo. Interesting. Anyway, I went with my roommates and some peeps from the ward. It was my first time and it was a good time.

Life is going well. I move bad to Oregon in a couple of weeks and I am pretty stoked. I am more impatient for the semester to be over so I can be in Oregon than I am just for the semester to be over. School is good. Life is good. The gospel is true.

This is what Pres. Monson might have worn to General Conference if the Sunbeams were in charge.

Re-generation ...

Hey Fam! Maybe you've seen this video clip, but it's a very interesting use of our language, and a great outlook for our future.

" . . . make conference memorable by developing family traditions that coincide with general conference . . . creat(e) traditions by turning a favorite food the family enjoys into a special treat served at conference time." (Ensign, March 2009, p.25)

Thanks for the cinnamon roll tradition, Mom! We're trying to carry on (though I don't usually make mine from scratch).
